The epic of hunting in pakistan dates back to prehistoric times and later
to the 8th century B.C.,till to date,testified by numerous petroglyphs on the rock faces in upper Indus
Valley in the Northern Areas.These are reminiscents of the local and nomadic hunters of the past.
The great Mughal rulers of the medieval India had an imperial zeal for hunting.Royal scouts searched
out tigers and antelopes for the king. Mughal Emperor jehangir by the age of 50 hunted 3203
quadrupeds and 13964 birds, his favorite wife, Queen Noor Jehan Shot tigers from elephant.Hunting
in the ancient times was a royal sport.
From the snow capped Karakorams to the western Himalayas and into the deserts of Sind,
Dureji hills and Kirthar Range in the south. Pakistan has diverse climate and geographical
condation.Pakistan is the home of many indigenous species of markhor,
urial and Ibex. Some of the species that can be hunted today are the Kashmir,Astor and Sulaiman
Markhor Blandford,Punjab and Afghan Urial,Sind and Himalayan Ibex and Blue sheep.
